The Texas Rangers acquired Max Scherzer in a blockbuster trade with the New York Mets at the 2023 trade deadline expecting him to be a big piece helping them get to the postseason and win the World Series.

Max Scherzer has been scratched from his second scheduled rehab start because of thumb soreness. Scherzer is rehabbing from surgery in mid-December to repair a herniated disk in his lower back and says that isn’t giving him any issues.

The starting pitcher complained of soreness in his right thumb. He said it “mimicked” pain he felt last year that spiraled into the torn shoulder muscle
