A man who served as a youth pastor at a San Jose church was arrested in connection with a child sexual abuse case, police said Monday.

Police said that the sexual assault suspect, Brett Bymaster, of San Jose, was a former youth pastor at the River Church Community and a volunteer at after school programs outside of the church.

A former youth pastor suspected of sexually assaulting a minor over a period of four years was arrested last week, San Jose police said Monday.

A former youth pastor was arrested for sexual assault of a minor, according to the San Jose Police Department. A report of a sexual assault of a minor in 2014 commenced an investigation from the San Jose Police Internet Crimes Against Children and Child Exploitation Detail task forces.
