Tesla is not giving any ground on Model Y leases in May while keeping the price competitive, despite extending the range of its lowest-priced variant.

However, while these additional improvements to the electric vehicle are lying dormant, Tesla plans to make them available to users who pay as much as $2,000 for this expanded range. This is because it has an unlockable additional range that lies dormant within its batteries, unknown to many.

Tesla introduced one variant in the U.S. market, but in doing so also axed the model that was available at a lower sticker price.
