It was no great shakes around here, but the U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 2.9 aftershock Saturday, one of the largest measured since the “main quake” in central New Jersey rocked and shocked much of the Philadelphia and New York regions on the morning of April 5.

Experts say aftershocks could last weeks or months.

New Jersey is not used to experiencing earthquakes, in fact, the last significant one in the Garden State was in the 1880s. The United States Geological Survey says that there have been 157 aftershocks since the April 5 earthquake. They’ve ranged from 0.2 to 3.8 in magnitude, according to the USGS.

At 9:49 a.m., a 2.9 magnitude earthquake rocked the area five miles south of Peapack and Gladstone in Somerset County, about an hour's drive west of New York City, according to the United States Geological Survey.
