DENVER (KDVR) — A spring storm brought thunder, lightning, snow and rain to the Denver metro area this weekend. A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day was issued for Saturday as heavy snow and rain caused several road closures in the mountains and caused flooding on some metro area roads. The storm rolled in with thunder and lightning Friday evening.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Diminishing rain and mostly cloudy with lows in 30’s/40’s. Gusts up to 20 mph. SUNDAY: Mostly sunny then mostly cloudy with highs in 60’s and lows in 40’s. Gusts up to 50 mph.

Weekend storm set to deluge Colorado with 1 to 3 feet of snow in some mountain areas and 1 to 3 inches of rain on the plains.

One storm system is bringing all sorts of active and severe weather to Southern Colorado for Saturday. You can expect rain, thunderstorms, slushy snow, difficult mountain travel, and even severe thunderstorms.

The weekend-long series of thunderstorms and snowstorms sweeping across Colorado reached its strongest intensity Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Another one to three feet of snow is projected for Colorado’s mountains and higher elevation foothills Saturday,

Saturday is a First Alert Weather day due to snow in the mountains and heavy rain in the front range. Much cooler weather is expected on Saturday with daytime highs topping out in the 40s in the Denver metro area.
