The Houston Roughnecks have their first win in the United Football League, and it came against a former XFL rival. The Roughnecks used arguably their best defensive performance of the season, big plays on both sides of the ball and the return of running back Mark Thompson to defeat the Arlington Renegades 17-9 on Sunday at Rice Stadium.

After both teams went three-and-out, the Roughnecks missed a field goal to start the fourth quarter. It didn't make a difference though, as a costly turnover by the Renegades late in the game allowed Houston to secure the home win.
