Explosions echoed through the centre of Kyiv on Monday morning and residents to shelters, hours after a heavy Russian missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital.

Russia launched a new wave of air attacks on Kyiv in early hours on Monday using drones and cruise missiles, with the military administration of the Ukrainian capital saying defence forces shot down more than 40 targets.

Ukraine shot down more than 37 cruise Russian missiles and 29 drones overnight as Russia targeted military facilities and infrastructure in the second massive bombardment in as many days, Kyiv’s General Staff of the Armed Forces said.
