New York City has filed suit against dozens of counties over their refusal to take in new migrants, the latest escalation in an ongoing battle between the city and local leaders across the state

New York City is suing 30 New York counties, municipalities and elected leaders for using executive orders to block the city from housing migrants within their jurisdictions — a legal maneuver the city’s lawyers say violates several laws.

The town's supervisor sent a lengthy statement out Saturday alleging that at least one busload of asylum-seekers driven from New York City was scheduled to arrive at a hotel in Colonie this weekend without the Albany County executive's office being notified — a requirement of an executive order the county issued on Tuesday.

New York City filed a lawsuit on Wednesday accusing more than 30 New York counties of violating state law by moving to block the city from relocating hundreds of migrants.
