Dallas County has confirmed the first measles case in the ongoing outbreak in Texas. Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Dr. Phil Huang says the woman is in her mid-20s and was fully vaccinated.

Texas health officials a reporting two new measles cases in its latest update. The new cases come after the state reported no new cases on Friday. The Texas Department of State Health Services has reduced its updates to a weekly update on Tuesdays.

Arizona health officials say there are four confirmed linked measles cases, making it another state with an outbreak.

State health officials linked two new measles cases to the West Texas outbreak on Tuesday. The cases were in El Paso and Midland counties. The overall number of outbreak-linked measles cases in Texas since January stood at 744.

Texas health officials are reporting no new measles cases for the first time since the outbreak started in January.

The CDC says more than twice as many measles have come from outside of the U.S. compared with May of last year, and most of those are in unvaccinated Americans returning home. In 2019, the U.S. saw 1,274 cases and almost lost its status of having eliminated measles.

Dallas County has reported its first case of measles, health officials said on Thursday.

According to Dallas County health officials, a woman in her mid-20s who was fully vaccinated contracted the highly contagious disease and interacted with the public while contagious at least twice.
