Nvidia announced the Trump administration has approved sales of AI chips to China, reversing an earlier ban. The company still needs government approval but expects to gain up to $15 billion from H20 sales this fiscal year,

The Trump administration is about to perform its latest reversal in trade negotiations with China, if Nvidia is to be believed. The company says it plans to resume sales of its H20 AI chip to China after securing assurances from Washington that it would approve the shipments.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says the Trump administration is letting it sell its advanced H20 computer chips, used to develop artificial intelligence, to China — a reversal of administration policy.

The administration’s move marks a turnabout after the Commerce Department restricted sales of the chip in April, costing Nvidia billions of dollars. The news came during a visit by Huang to Beijing, where he was meeting senior officials.

Nvidia expects to be able to sell H20 chips in China once again after previously forecasting it would lose out on $8 billion in revenue this quarter related to sales restrictions.
