After months of uncertainty regarding a planned merger of the XFL and USFL, the two leagues have cleared a major federal hurdle and plan to play as a united league this spring.

The Brahmas, established in 2022 as part of the rebooted eight-team XFL, describe the Lone Star Club as “a premium season ticket member offer with all-inclusive stadium fare which can also accommodate B2B groups of more than 20 (suite size), providing a cost-effective solution that delivers high quality.”

Federal regulators have approved the proposed merger between the XFL and USFL, with the new league slated to begin play next spring.

The antitrust review process is required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission reviews proposed mergers and other transactions that are valued at more than $111 million to determine if the combined entity would substantially lessen competition in a particular market.
