South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol refused to appear for fresh questioning by investigators Thursday, a day after his dramatic arrest over an ill-fated martial law declaration. Yoon revoked martial law after just six hours and was later impeached by parliament.

South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol will not attend the first formal hearing of the trial to determine if he is removed from office or reinstated because of concerns about his safety.

Yoon Suk Yeol, who was detained for questioning over his attempt to impose martial law, would become the first sitting South Korean president to be formally arrested.
