India on Wednesday blocked Turkey's public broadcaster TRT World for promoting Pakistani propaganda amid the ongoing tensions with the neighbouring country. The development came moments after the Centre withheld X handles of Chinese state media - Global Times and Xihua News - for the same reason.

The Indian Embassy in China had earlier issued a stern warning to Global Times on X, advising the outlet to "verify facts and cross-examine sources" before sharing such posts.

The X accounts of Chinese media houses Global Times and Xinhua were withheld in India following a legal request amid military tensions with Pakistan. While the Global Times account was restored, Xinhua remains blocked.

The central government has imposed a ban on the X handles of China's state-run media outlets Xinhua News Agency and Global Times, alongside Turkey's TRT World, for disseminating pro- Pakistan propaganda and fake news. The move comes after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire following the successful Operation Sindoor.
