Amneal stock climbs on Q1 report, opioid settlement update
Shares of Amneal Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:AMRX) climbed 9% Friday after the drugmaker released a better-than-expected Q1 earnings report and said it had reached an agreement in principle to settle litigation filed against the company over its alleged role in the US opioid crisis.

Amneal Pharmaceuticals said on Friday it had reached a deal valued at more than $270 million to resolve claims it helped fuel the deadly U.S. opioid epidemic, becoming the latest drug company to settle lawsuits over the addiction crisis brought by states and local governments.
California settled an opioid lawsuit against Amneal Pharmaceuticals in the same week that it struck a contract to buy discount overdose medication from the company.
The settlement in principle accounts for New Jersey-based Amneal's role in fueling the national epidemic of opioid addictions and overdoses, New York and California said in separate statements.
