Mexico accused Ecuador of a blatant violation of international law before the top U.N. court on Tuesday, asserting there was no legal defense for storming the Mexican Embassy in Quito to arrest a former vice president who had just been granted asylum by Mexico.

Mexico is suing Ecuador at the world court over the armed raid that led to the arrest of the Ecuadorian former vice president Jorge Glas, saying it violated the Vienna Convention.

Ecuador accused Mexico before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) of blatant interference in Ecuadorian internal affairs on Wednesday after Mexico brought a case against Quito saying it violated international law.
