Authorities recovered skeletal remains of a skull during a Monday morning search of a pond in Rankin County, the day after a leg was found.

Human remains were discovered in a Rankin County pond. Sunday, around 7:15 p.m. Flowood Police Department received a call from a fisherman about what appeared to be a human leg near Mangum Road. The Rankin County Coroner took possession of the partial remains.

According to police, the leg was taken to the medical examiner's office to start a DNA process in an effort to identify who it belonged to.
