Colorado's Rocky Mountains have reached peak snowpack, but climate change is changing the way snow turns to water. States around the region are debating new rules for the river that center around new water deficits.

A late April snow fell on the metro area Saturday after days of temperatures reaching the 80s. It ushered in concern for some Coloradans who may have already begun spring planting in their gardens.

The weekend-long series of thunderstorms and snowstorms across Colorado will linger Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Lingering rain showers may remain over the plains Sunday in northeast and north central Colorado.

Additional snow amounts below 6,000 feet will be very small and mostly on grassy surfaces. The foothills will likely pick up an additional 1-4", with a few 6"+ reports possible at higher elevations.

Colorado will see widespread precipitation Saturday, with 1 to 3 inches of rain in the metro area and snowfall totals continuing to pile up in the mountains, as high as 1 to 3 feet.
