A man who was shot by Los Angeles police while they were attempting to arrest him in Torrance was treated and released at a hospital and remained jailed Friday on suspicion of attempted murder.

When authorities arrived, detectives from the LAPD's Gang and Narcotics units were following up on an investigation when the officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was taken to a hospital by Torrance Fire Department personnel and was in stable condition. No officers were injured in the shooting.

Suspect Erick Franco-Sanchez exchanged gunfire with LAPD during an arrest attempt, injuring both himself and an officer.

Officials said the shooting unfolded as LAPD officers were serving a felony child abuse search warrant connected to a sexual assault investigation.
