General Hospital' actor Chris Robinson wasn't a doctor, but he played one on TV — and introduced that classic saying to American culture. He has died at 86.

In a career that lasted more than 60 years, he appeared in films with Burt Lancaster and Ted Cassidy. And in a commercial for cough syrup, he noted he wasn’t a doctor but played one on TV.

The 79-year-old "remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan," representatives said Thursday.
