The Santa Fe district attorney is stepping away from prosecuting the fatal on-set "Rust" shooting, the office announced Wednesday.

Santa Fe D.A. Mary Carmack-Altwies will step aside in the prosecution of Alec Baldwin for the fatal shooting of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and has named two lawyers to take over the case.

If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Alec Baldwin could face a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and fines.
