TikTok is set to shut down in the U.S. on Jan. 19. According to Bloomberg, Biden administration officials have signaled they likely won’t enforce the ban before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Trump has indicated he will seek to reverse the ban.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The law that could ban TikTok is coming before the Supreme Court on Friday, with the justices largely holding the app's fate in their hands. The popular social media platform says the law violates the First Amendment and should be struck down.

Trump recently urged the Supreme Court to delay the TikTok ban to allow time for a negotiated solution. The incoming president's National Security Adviser pick Mike Waltz told Fox News on Thursday that the incoming administration will work on a deal to keep the "fantastic platform" in place for Americans while protecting their data.

This ruling will disappoint the app’s 170 million users in the United States. But it reflects eminently reasonable deference to the judgment of Congress.
