The Department of Veterans Affairs announced Monday it is walking back plans for mass layoffs at the agency but says it will still shed tens of thousands of jobs by the end of fiscal year 2025.

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs on Monday reversed course on its previously announced plans of reduction in force. The agency said department will lose 30,000' people through resignation and early retirement by October 2025.

The Department of Veterans Affairs earlier this year had planned to cut tens of thousands of workers to return its workforce to just under 400,000.
