New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr left in the fourth quarter of their 33-28 loss to the Detroit Lions after being hit hard by Bruce Irvin in the backfield. Carr was slow to get up and eventually helped off the field by trainers, who were holding the veteran's right arm. Jameis Winston replaced Carr under center.

Carr suffered a concussion in the Saints Week 10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but he was expected to have cleared the NFL’s concussion protocols in time to avoid missing games with the Saints having had a bye in Week 11. "He's being evaluated," Coach Dennis Allen said Monday. "He's in the concussion protocol but he's also being evaluated for a rib injury. We don't have all of the results back on that, but the shoulder seemed like it came out fine. We'll evaluate him as we go throughout the week, see what his availability will be."
