The City of Philadelphia's Department of Public Health has declared a heat health emergency that will be in effect starting Sunday at noon and lasting until Wednesday at 8 p.m. The emergency could be extended if next week's forecast takes a turn for the worse and the heat wave continues.

Michiana’s First heat wave of 2025 ramps up today and lingers into most of next week as a dome of high pressure sits right over the Midwest and Great Lakes. Afternoon high temperatures will approach record highs with heat index values of 100° to 105°.

It won’t take long for the heat levels to ramp-up on Saturday. The hottest weather will be over West Alabama, where heat index levels may top 105º in some areas. Once again, we could see isolated strong storms in the afternoon and evening.
