NEW YORK (Reuters) -Oil prices slipped $1 per barrel on Monday in volatile trading after reports that Iran is seeking an end to hostilities with Israel, raising the possibility of a truce and easing fears of a disruption to crude supplies from the region.

The run-up in crude futures paused on Monday, with prices falling more than 1% on signs that Iran wants to end hostilities with Israel and resume nuclear talks. U.S. crude oil lost $1.21, or 1.66%, to close at $71.

Oil prices are rising and stocks are falling on worries that Israel's attack on Iranian nuclear sites could damage flow of crude around the world.
