Dec. 14 (UPI) -- An announcement by Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss that he is battling cancer triggered an outpouring of well-wishes from fellow athletes and fans on Saturday.

Now, Randy Moss himself has spoken for the first time since Fitzgerald Sr.'s post, revealing the truth behind this on Friday afternoon on Instagram Live. Moss is, in fact, a cancer survivor.

Though he’s currently on an extended leave of absence from his role on ESPN, Moss made it clear that wants to return to his position as soon as he can.

He says with a platform as big as Moss has, he's hoping other people decide to take action. "I think that it would bring a lot of people to make a move," he said. "Because like I said, it's, man.
