Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a three-day ceasefire in May in the war with Ukraine to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union and its allies in World War Two.

Vladimir Putin has ordered a full ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8 to 10 as Russia celebrates Victory Day over Nazi Germany. The Kremlin said that the Russian President had declared the full cessation of hostilities on "humanitarian grounds" for the celebrations on May 9.
