National Hurricane Center forecasters are monitoring a trio of systems including Tropical Storm Philippe, a system off Africa could become a tropical depression by midweek and a low-pressure system that emerged Sunday afternoon in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the hurricane center, the tropical storm is about 1,265 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. The storm is moving west-northwest at 10 mph. Because Tropical Storm Philippe is more than 1,200 miles from land, there are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

The National Hurricane Center continues to track the season’s 16th named storm in Tropical Storm Philippe while keeping tabs on two other systems.

Storm Philippe was upgraded to a tropical storm on Saturday night, making it the 16th named storm of the hurricane season.
