University of Miami President Julio Frenk, a Mexico-born global health expert, will be the first Latino to lead UCLA, having won UC regents' unanimous approval.

Frenk, the first Latino to ever lead the Westwood university, took over as UCLA chancellor at the beginning of January, replacing Gene Block, who stepped down on July 31 of last year.
