According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 41-year-old Gregory Jackson, of Texarkana, was arrested on a felony charge of criminally negligent homicide after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed into a Livingston Independent School District bus.

Lakeland Police said a bicyclist was killed after being hit by a Schools of McKeel Academy bus early Tuesday morning.

The crash took place on U.S. Highway 59 just north of Livingston and killed a 15-year-old boy. The truck driver was arrested on a homicide charge.

At times like this, we are reminded how precious life can be and how fragile each life truly is,” the school district said.

US-59 north of Livingston was blocked for hours on Thursday as troopers canvassed the deadly crash scene. DPS said the teen was hit after the truck rear-ended a passenger vehicle.
