As people travel for the holiday weekend, much of Northern California is under a winter storm watch, with communities bracing for several feet of snow.

The New York office provides forecasting for the southern half of Connecticut. The weather service's Boston office, which covers most of northern Connecticut, noted modeling in the last couple of days suggested the storm "moves off the Carolina coast, strengthens, and possibly becomes a significant coastal storm for our region."
