A very floriferous Hybrid Passion Flower, Passiflora 'Blue Bouquet' is a vigorous large semi-evergreen climber with twining tendrils. The exotic beauty of its flowers is captivating. Reminiscent of Passiflora caerulea, the bowl-shaped, blue to lavender flowers feature a ring of blue and dark purple pointed filaments surrounding the green fleshy reproductive structures. The attractive, 3 in. blooms (8 cm) are followed by egg-size deep orange fruits from late summer through fall. The fruits are edible but not very tasty. The foliage consists of palmately lobed, shiny dark green leaves. The fruit is widely distributed in the market and a small amount is exported to Barbados and Canada. It is one of the best tropical fruit to grow because it comes into production within a year and is referred to as fruit cash crop. Its juice is rich in vitamin A, B5 and C.
