Partial Sun to Full Sun (At Least 5 Hours of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height 3 - 4 FeetMature Spread 3 - 4 FeetGrowing Zones 4 - 10Pruning Group 3Bernadine Clematis is a floriferous, shade-loving perennial with vivid green foliage and icy blue flowers with contrasting red anthers. This long-bloomer stuns from late spring through fall with glistening, saucer-shaped flowers you can enjoy from June to September. Bernadine Clematis is exceptionally easy-to-grow, and its compact height of 3 to 4 feet and spread of 18 to 24 inches makes it the perfect choice for small spaces and gardens. Bernadine™ Clematis was bred by Raymond Envision Clematis as part of the Boulevard® Collection, and featured at the Chelsea Flower Show in London, England. The Bernadine is renowned for its easy care, compact, bushy habit, and ability to grow in partial shade. It attracts butterflies and supports critical pollinators. It is commonly used as a cut flower for both its blooms and foliage, and is a favorite of florists. The blooms of the Bernadine make excellent indoor displays.Bernadine™ Clematis CareYou should plant your Bernadine Clematis in an area with partial sun to dappled shade, but it can survive in full sun, as well. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil, and takes average water. Dont allow your clematis to dry out. It should be fertilized monthly during its growing season. Bernadine™ Clematis does not like root competition. Try not to damage new and delicate stems when planting. Surround the base of your clematis with 2 to 3 inches of fine mulch to protect roots and keep the soil cool and moist.Pruning Bernadine Clematis is simple. Trim all stems of the plant down to 4 to 6 inches in late winter or early spring as new buds begin to show low on the plant. To encourage airflow, you should also remove dead material and mildewed foliage. Watch your clematis for brown or wilting leaves. It is susceptible to aphids, scale and powdery mildew. Bernadine™ Clematis SpacingBernadine Clematis should be spaced 2 to 3 feet apart at planting. It grows very well in containers and is an excellent, colorful focal point on decks, patios, and front porches. The Bernadine is stunning as a single specimen plant, or planted in mass, interspersed with other colors of clematis.Bernadine™ Clematis InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 4 - 10Plant Type: PerennialsLight Exposure: Partial Sun to Full Sun (At Least 5 Hours of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height: 3 - 4 FeetMature Spread: 18 - 24 InchesSpacing: 18 - 24 InchesHabit: Climbing, TrailingFlower Color(s): BlueFlower Description: Bloom Period: Foliage Type: DeciduousFoliage Color(s): BlueFoliage Description: Seasonal Interest: Summer FloweringWatering: AverageResists: DeerTolerates: DroughtAttracts: Bees, ButterfliesContainer Role: Uses: Containers, Wildlife GardensFeatures: Attracts Pollinators, Cut Flowers, Continuous Blooming or RebloomerBrand: Common Name: Bernadine™ ClematisOther Name(s): Scientific Name: CLEMATIS `BERNADINE` (MUST SLEEVE) | Perennials > Clematis > Group 3 Clematis Raymond Evison Clematis 1012998-pc
