Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height 18 - 24 InchesMature Spread 18 - 24 InchesGrowing Zones 4 - 8Perennial phlox, with its fragrant masses of flowers, has long been a staple in cottage and colonial gardens and in cut-flower plantings. The Volcano Soft Pink garden phlox is an updated phlox bred to offer gardeners numerous advantages. Unlike traditional phlox varieties, the Volcano series has high levels of resistance to diseases like powdery mildew. It also offers a more compact, low-growing habit with upright stems that will not collapse and require staking or trimming to simply maintain form. The flowers on this plant are exceptionally fragrant and soft pink with a darker pink center. Blooms appear throughout the entire summer if properly maintained and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. In comparison to conventional perennial phlox, the Volcano soft pink has low maintenance requirements. It is an excellent choice for a traditional perennial border, against a white picket fence, or in foundation plantings.Volcano Soft Pink Garden Phlox CarePlant the Volcano soft pink in full sun to partial sun to ensure a healthy phlox plant. When planting, choose a site with fertile, well-drained soil or work compost into the top 12 inches of soil. This phlox can tolerate fairly dry conditions but will perform best with weekly or more frequent irrigation during hot, dry weather. Feed it in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to encourage vigorous growth. After the first flush of flowering, cut the plant back by two-thirds. This will encourage branching and repeat blooming. Deadheading ensures continuous blooming. Cut the foliage back after the first killing frost each fall.Volcano Soft Pink Garden Phlox SpacingThis phlox grows 18 to 24 inches tall with a spread of 12 to 15 inches. If you are planting several of this phlox variety, space them about 15 inches apart. This phlox can be grown in a container as long as it is three gallons or larger and has plenty of holes for drainage.Volcano® Soft Pink Garden Phlox InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 4 - 8Plant Type: Light Exposure: Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height: 18 - 24 InchesMature Spread: 12 - 15 InchesSpacing: 12 - 15 InchesHabit: UprightFlower Color(s): PinkFlower Description: Bloom Period: June through SeptemberFoliage Type: HerbaceousFoliage Color(s): GreenFoliage Description: Seasonal Interest: Summer FloweringWatering: AverageResists: Disease, Pests & InsectsTolerates: DroughtAttracts: Butterflies, HummingbirdsContainer Role: Uses: Borders, Containers, Mass Planting, Wildlife GardensFeatures: Attracts Pollinators, Fragrant, Low MaintenanceBrand: Volcano PhloxCommon Name: Volcano® Soft Pink Garden PhloxOther Name(s): Scientific Name: PHLOX `VOLCANO SOFT PINK/DARK EYE` | Perennials > Phlox Volcano Phlox 1007475-pc
