This is an authentic fossilized Megalodon shark tooth that is estimated to be between 5 and 24 million years old (Miocene era). These teeth are personally recovered by my husband or me from the bottom of the ocean while diving approximately 40 miles off the coast of southeastern North Carolina. The type of rock or sediment that the tooth fossilized in determines its color. This one has a dark brownish gray root and light gray enamel, with good serrations. It measures 2.84 inches on one side and 2.55 inches on the other (root to tip). The width at the widest part of the root is 2.24 inches and it weighs 1.3 ounces. A nice wide rooted specimen! This fossil tooth has been cleaned naturally with vinegar and has not been altered in any way. Be the 2nd person to touch this magnificent specimen! Shipped with "Megalodon - The Prehistoric Shark" story/history printed on card stock paper. Comes with a clear acrylic display stand. Makes an awesome gift or addition to any collection!
