Dwarf Maiden Grass is also prized for use in borders and massed plantings, or as a foreground for larger Maiden Grass cultivars. It puts on a lovely display in late summer when fan-shaped, rose-colored flowers rise above the foliage. Leaves turn a beautiful burgundy shade in fall. Dwarf Maiden Grass can be left standing for winter interest; cut back in spring before new growth appears. The cultivar name 'Adagio' comes from the Italian ad agio, meaning "at ease, a term used in music and ballet to signify slow movements.
