Enjoy a yummy treat in garden or container with irresistible Hydrangea Strawberry Sundae. The show begins in early summer, when the large bloomheads open florets of lime green that quickly turn creamy-white. Within a few weeks, the cream has acquired soft pink tones, and finally the pink turns darker and becomes a rich raspberry-red. Utterly magnificent, and so much fun to see a shrub in full bloom, with all colors present at once. Flowering continues for several months, giving you ample opportunity to cut stems for fresh or dried indoor arrangements as well as enjoying them on the plant. Banked by large, bright green leaves with neatly serrated edges, Hydrangea Strawberry Sundae is a glorious sight. This hydrangea is tolerant of urban pollution, loves moisture, and thrives in any good garden or potting soil. (If you grow it in a container, remember to scrape off the top layers of soil each year and replace them with fresh potting mix.) One of the easiest shrubs to grow in full sun to part shade, it is undisturbed by diseases and pests. You will love its everchanging color show for many years to come. This variety is slower to come out of dormancy compared to other Hydrangea varieties. Leaves will begin to show in late spring-early summer.
