Description
Clematis 'Doctor Ruppel' is a stunning large open flowering Clematis cultivar in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. It produces stunning blooms with colourful petal-like structures called tepals. Tepals are petal-like in appearance but cannot definitively be classified as petals to attract pollinators. These are vibrant bright pink in colour, with distinct white edges. Flowering occurs from late summer through early autumn. Clematis can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs or herbaceous perennials, mostly climbing by twining leaf-stalks, and often with showy flowers. Some have attractive fluffy seedheads in autumn Dr. Ruppel is one of the large-flowered cultivars bearing deep rose-pink flowers measuring 6-8 inches across, with six or seven delicately ruffled pedals, each surrounding a light-colored center with light brown anthers. More mature flowers may display a deep reddish-pink stripe down the middle with hints of lavender. Early Large-flowered clematis have large star-shaped flowers in early summer, often with a second flowering in late summer Clematis 'Doctor Ruppel' is a stunning large open flowering Clematis cultivar in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae.
