Users say:
This scanner is highly recommended for its clarity, ease of use, and programming capabilities. It is also compatible with a variety of analog and digital systems, and can be programmed from a computer. However, the batteries may not last long, so it is important to purchase rechargeable batteries.

So if you have your own John Connor-ish "off the grid" frequencies list, and scanner software comes as naturally to you as leaves to a tree, then this is the scanner for you. For the beginner or moderate user-the reason this scanner is less expensive than other digital handheld scanners is the lack of software & frequencies. Again, the reason this scanner costs less than similar models is because it does NOT include software or frequencies. We recommend the Uniden SDS100 if you're looking for an easy-to-use handheld scanner. We do not provide tech support on this scanner as it is difficult to operate and we do not recommend buying it unless you are very familiar with scanners, scanner programming, and technology in general. Included: Antenna (Rubber Duck Stock) USB Cable (2) AA Batteries Hand Strap Quick Start Guide
