A new cultivar, Coreopsis 'Berry Chiffon' was bred to exhibit superior garden attributes. It has a long, floriferous bloom season, but the sterile flowers don't seed all over the garden or need deadheading. And the threadleaf foliage is very resistant to powdery mildew, so no spraying is necessary to keep it healthy and looking good. The plant is more tolerant of cold temperatures and doesn't go dormant too early in cooler climates.Coreopsis 'Berry Chiffon', an herbaceous perennial, common name tickseed, blooms in vibrant white flowers with large berry-colored eyes, and as the temperature turns cooler, the berry color spreads until only the petal tips remain white. The flowers attract bees and butterflies and make perfectly precious posies.Coreopsis 'Berry Chiffon' is drought tolerant and easy to grow, even in poor soil. It is perfectly suited to a patio container, but its beauty is best showcased when planted in mass or with companion plants, like lavender and Shasta daisies, in a cottage or prairie garden.
