Leaf arrangement is opposite. Leaves are simple, 7-20 cm long and 3.5-7 cm wide, elliptic-ovate to ovate - lanceolate, entire, pointed at the top, light green, first pubescent, and then glabrous. The petiole is 5-8 mm long. The flowers are bisexual, regular, with a strong aroma, develop on shoots of the previous year, about 2.5 cm in diameter, with a large number of yellowish petals. Blooms from December to March. The fruits are elliptical, dark brown up to 4 cm long, and remain on the branches for about a year after maturation. Interesting: Decorative shrub with winter-spring flowering, used in gardening in the Caucasus, Crimea and Central Asia. Benefits: Essential oils of the plant have been widely used in perfumes. Care: Chimonanthus extremely easy to grow. When growing in the open ground, it is important to choose a place protected from wind gusts. In very cold winters, it will not hurt to cover the root zone. If the plant is contained in a container, it is better to move it indoors for this period. It is allowed to cool down to -18°C. If the thermometer falls below, the shelter of the root zone is mandatory.
